In the next few years we predict that the cloud will dominate the IT market and many more technologies expected to be in play over the next few years. This includes a surge of interest in augmented reality and the metaverse.
Preparing The Workforce Of The Future
The pandemic has opened the doors for flexible working and with many people placing a work-life balance at the top of their agenda, CIO’s and IT Managers need to be mindful of this when strategically planning their workforce for the future but that isn’t all that you need to be prepared for. CIO’s also need to strategically plan the skills and capabilities that they will need from their team, innovation and the ability to think outside the box is going to be critical as well as the need for data-related skills and expertise around environmental, social and governance to increase. There also needs to be an ability from team members to collaborate with other departments to shape new team structures and develop technologies in order to stay ahead of the game.
CIO’s Will Need To Adapt
Its predicted that a CIO’s role in the future will change too, they will need to adopt multi-sourcing skills and be able to manage relationships between their business and the technology long gone are the days where they will just manage IT. A need for business knowledge and a broad technical knowledge is of vital importance.
Connected Devices & Lots and Lots of Data
Expect the amount of end point devices to increase and therefore as a CIO you will need to look into what you will need to support, monitor and most importantly- secure the infrastructure.
More data will be needed as businesses expand and more end point devices become necessary to business management, therefore upping the amount of data they will produce and in turn, collect.
But what can you do to prepare yourself? Well, you need to start now. By speeding up cloud investments and developing plans for increased workforces and training strategies, you will be on the front foot and when you align what intelligence you know about the future of IT with your businesses’ strategies for the future, you will be prepared and ahead of the game.
