Is your Vmware vSphere environment running on a fully supported version, which is actively being developed, receiving patches and security fixes at the vendor level to ensure your environment is in optimal condition?
If you are running any version of vSphere 6.X did you know that from the 15th October 2022 the product will have entered into the “Technical Guidance” phase of its lifecycle?
But what does this “Technical Guidance” phase mean to your vSphere 6.X environment?
The official policy from the Vmware states that:
“Technical Guidance, if available, is provided from the end of the General Support phase and lasts for a fixed duration. Support Services available are reduced where products are in the Technical
Guidance Phase. Customers are encouraged to use the Self-Help portal as priority. If required, customers can open a support request online via their Customer Connect portal to receive support and workarounds for low-severity issues on supported configurations only.”
During the Technical Guidance phase, VMware does not offer new hardware support, server/client/guest OS updates, new security patches or bug fixes unless otherwise noted. This phase is intended for usage by customers operating in stable environments with systems that are operating under reasonably stable loads.
The ‘Technical Guidance’ for version 6 will end on 15th November 2023, so you will be able to receive a support level for your environment until then, but does this meet your business requirements?
